When we read the sad news about 'ol Slim, the whole clan was distraught. It caught us completely off-guard. Kitty suggested we have a moment of silence to honour Slim's legacy. Charlie Jr. quit viewing rerun episodes of "King of the Hill for at least 60 minutes" and Katlain postponed a trip to the mall.
She did call her fellow teens to give them the low down.
"Slim Stealson quit dad's old company," teary-eyed Katlain said to one of her new friends.
"Who's Slim Stealson." Gretchan wanted to know.
"Why he's one of the greatest food biz Managers in the free world?"
"Wow!"
"And he knew how to make money. One of his more brilliant ploys was hiding the butter pack from the guests, so's they'd use oleo cups."
"Yew. What's an oleo cup?"
"It just happens to be one of the most essential ingredients to any Pic recipe."
The conversation lasted hours, and Gretchan regretted never seeing the "Man" in action. But she was duly impressed. And held her own moment of silence, lighting incense and watching it waft gingerly throughout her mucous membranes.
Ennyhoo, thanks for the memories, Slim. You took South Florida and built it into an empire.
To you, Azz, and Mr. Edrobal. We'll never see a triumvirate like you guys agin.
Red, I will drown my sorrows at ye local bar On Golden Pond. Via a "white russian" or a "mile high mary."
Bon voyage, v.c.
P.S. RSVP! You have a one way ticket on the nite train.
