Maybe I Didn't Think Things Through!

It's been awhile since v.c. has ventured into the realm of bloggerdom. And, if memory serves, my last post mentioned a "throwin' in the towel" mentality. Where I used my trademark "farewell and adieu" to announce to the world-well, maybe a few people-that v.c. was hangin' 'em up. It appeared "Golden Pond" was kaput, fini'.

There's life in this old keyboard after all. Plus, the writings were good therapy after a long day at work.

Thanks again to those who have perused the Pond. Here's hoping you have gotten a different slant from yours truly, v.c. So we're firing up the presses one more time.

Farewell and adieu, v.c.

P.S. The one-eyed cyclops is kaput, fin' as the background on my computer screen. He has been replaced with "Hotel California." You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.

Farewell and Adieu

Thanks to all of you who read the Golden Pond forays. I have enjoyed writing them. But, alas, there comes a time [ apologies to Neil Young ] when all things must pass. [ apologies are in order to George Harrison, the quiet member of the fab-4, who did quite nicely "in his own write-" apologies to John Lennon, circa 1965. ]

Even tho I have a wealth of trivia stored in my somewhat demented mind, the Pond has yet to gain a following. So what's the point? There is little need for a conservative blogger in these times of bush-bashing and political correctness.

And with a hearty and one last,

Farewell and adieu, v.c.

P.S. A bidding farewell would not be complete without a postscript. And "for your eyes only" [ a final apology to Ian Fleming or was it Cubby Broccoli? ] may all your dreams be in synchronicity.

Beep Beep 'N Beep Beep-Yeah!

My main man Paul MAC wowed the audiences at this year's Super Bowl halftime show. He was playing with his backup band, "The Yesterdays." Good thing Paul changed the name of his most famous song or the band would be known as "The Scrambled Eggs." When he wrote "Yesterday," he was afraid that he may be guilty of plagiarism, thinking the tune had been lifted perhaps.

Paul started the show with "Drive My Car" from Rubber Soul. Then "Get Back," a rocker the fab 4 once sang on the rooftop of the Apple Building in jolly old London. Circa 1969. Then we heard "Live and Let Die." A Wings foray and the title song for Roger Moore's debut as 007. "Shaken and not stirred," eh?

And to close the show we heard the classic "Hey Jude." Supposedly written to John Lennon's son Julian during the time when the Lennons were breaking up. [ see Yoko Ono for more details ]

What a show! And a pretty good football game as well. And Paul was much better than last year's fiasco. [ see Justin and Janet for more details ]

Here's hoping they'll bring him back year after year after year.

Farewell and adieu, v.c.

P.S. While writing "Hey Jude," Paul sang the tune to John. I'll change "the movement you need is on your shoulders" he told John.

"No you want," he said. "It's the best line in the song."

More Money Is Needed!

Yes, more money is needed for the government-funded school system. Alas, to which I was once a charter member. Farewell and adieu, v.c.

P.S. And may all your dreams be synchronistic!

Publish or Perish Revisited

I knew the ground rules going in to this blogger craze. Publish or perish. And what have you done for me lately?

But-truth be told- I'm freaking worn out. Plus, I'm getting those old symtoms-circa 1969- when the Hong Kong Flu raised its ugly head and left me devastated in its wake.

And altho parting is such sweet sorrow, publish or perish be damned,

Farewell and adieu, v.c.

In parting John Lennon while with the fab 4 once summed up the way I feel tonite and the last few daze in a song. It went like this:

I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink
I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink
I wonder should I get up and fix myself a drink
No,no,no.

I'm so tired I don't know what to do
I'm so tired my mind is set on you
I wonder should I call you but I know what you'd do

You'd say I'm putting you on
But it's no joke, it's doing me harm
You know I can't sleep, I can't stop my brain
You know it's three weeks, I'm going insane
You know I'd give you everything I've got
for a little peace of mind

I'm so tired, I'm feeling so upset
Although I'm so tired I'll have another cigarette
And curse Sir Walter Raleigh
He was such a stupid get.

Exactly!
