"Panic In Needle Park, er, Panic in the Pond"

The onset of the "Panic" began at 12 p.m. [ 1200 hours ] EST. Rumours: "The U.S.A. would be out of petrol in 10 days;" and "Gas would be at $5.00 by the end of the day;" Which caused mass pandemonium in our little town known as Golden Pond. Charlie Jr., my son, waited in line for an hour and a half to fill up Kitty's truck. I got off work at 5-things appeared normal on the autoban, er, expressway. When I got off at the exit to Pon Jovi all hell was breaking loose at the pumps. Cars everywhere. Lined up on the streets. Gas station owners/managers directing traffic. Today me and "Old Betsy" spent 5 minutes max buying gasoline. The panic has subsided? Posted by Picasa
