"Happy Birthday, Golden Pond"

You're one year old today. Who'd ever of thunk it? Shirley, not me. A year is a long time. When I began writing these forays into the infantile, the Boston Red Sox were poised to win the World Series for the first time since 1919. Which made the "curse of the bambino" null and void. Kaput, fini'.

Then there was the presidential election. Kerry vs. the incumbent, George Bush, the most villified President in American History. Herbert Hoover doesn't come close. And I can never understand the "I hate him" mentality.

Kerry lost, as we all know, because he smoked marijuana but didn't inhale. Er, sorry, wrong President.

Christmas came and me and Kitty saw two great movies: "Finding Netherland" and "The Aviator."

Winter followed and yours truly was faced with a daunting setback. "Fuk 'em if they can't take a joke." I persevered, rebounding which tested my resiliency. Probably one of my finest hours.

Later, the Pond was lost due to a computer glitch, and veesgoldenpond,blogspot.com was born. Thanks to the gods at google, they resurrected the Pond and it was full speed ahead.

Pictures were added and my personal forays took a back seat. Much easier to produce after a long, hard day at work.

Here's hoping you have enjoyed the old sci-fi movies, the old baseball memorabillia, and forays with Kitty, my lovely wife of umpteen years.

Thanks again for year one! Farewell and adieu; Gimme shelter; v.c.

P.S. The Pond has always been submittedfor your approval and perusal.
