"Really Big Shew!"
As chronicled before, I've always had a thing for redheads but not the ones with freckles. Ann Margaret fits the bill as the former and definitely not the latter. She was one gorgeous dame. [ apologies to Bogie ]
This particular flick had an all star cast. Janet Leigh from "Psycho" fame and mother to Jamie Lee, who gained renown for her starring roles in the "Halloween" series. And Dick van Dyke aka Rob Petrie. And Paul Lynde of centersquare fame on "Hollywood Squares." And the venerable variety show host old Ed Sullivan, himself.
"Bye Bye Birdie" was da bomb and one of me favourites as a young teen. The beginning and ending with Ann M. singing was worth the price of admission. Enjoy the trailer, v.c.

You just reminded me of something I caught on the radio two Sundays ago. You gotta go listen. It will take about twenty minutes, but I think you'll love it. It's the story of Mitzi McCall and Charlie Brill, a two-person comedy act that got the break of their life Feb 9, 1964 on the Ed Sullivan Show.
One problem: that was the same show that had the first appearance of The Beatles in America.
This American Life is a weekly radio program by Ira Glass, one of the best broadcast journalists working today. Go to episode #281 to hear this clip. The program is an hour long if you have time, but the snip to hear starts at 6:35 and runs to about 25:00. With Real Audio you can drag to tracking indicator to advance the clip.
Hope you like it as much as I did.
Do you really think anybody else in the universe cares what YOU think?
You write like such a dork!
Hoots that was great!!!! I remember Mitzi and Charlie McCall. Mitzi was a hoot on the old "Gong Show" with Chuck Barris.
The duo said they winced every time they heard a Beatles song after the program. And John borrowing a dime to get a coke. Classic. And they thought the crowds were there for Frank Gorshin, who was one of the best.
Thanks, hoots. It was great. vee
P.S. I got my first hate mail. I love it. Thanks to the anonymous poster. Call again.
