"Cranberry Sauce"

We haven't mentioned the Fab 4 in a while. And Tammy YKnot? Our foray tonite concerns Paul's supposed death in '68! Cranberry sauce; "I buried Paul"; "Turn Me On, Dead Man"; etc. Tonight's foray includes other celebs who were once thought to be dead. From "Turn Me On, Dead Man" by Andru J. Reeve here are a few celebs who had a close encounter with themselves as "urban legends."

1) "I might as well be dead. This town, Hollywood, won't give me a job." Jay North, once TV's Dennis the Menace, bemoaning his current acting prospects and the fact that he was rumoured to be dead.

2) Mikey the "Life Cereal Boy" was rumoured to have literally exploded when he ate several bags of the candy "Pop Rocks" and then chased it with a carbonated soda.

3) Jerry Mathers, "the Beaver," supposedly died in Vietnam when he threw himself on a live grenade to save his battalion.

4) Urban legends, too, occasionally manage to slip into serious news reporting. To actor Richard Gere's amazement, many people still believe that he was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital in '84 to have a live gerbil removed from his rectum.

I liked the one about the gerbil. Another sign the world began going mad in 1984. Apologies to George Orwell and to my viewing audience. It's another mayhem in the a.m. ( stolen from somebody-a radio show, perhaps ) so lamentably, v.c.  Posted by Picasa
