It's simple - Dick Cheney is a BULLY. Note above that his Yale clique 'loved football but weren't varsity quality' - in other words, they were a bunch of losers. Certainly the real varsity jocks treated these wannabes as inferiors, which would have inspired a feeling of inferiority that had to be assuaged in some manner.
